About

The National Service Scheme is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India to incorporate the youth in nation building. The scheme was officially adopted on 24th September, 1969, on the occasion of the birth centenary year of the Father of India, Mr. M.K. Gandhi, celebrating the legacy of Gandhian thought. The students from class 10+1, 10+2 at school level and graduating and post graduating at college and university level respectively, find an opportunity to participate in community service and nation building. The students work on the motto of the NSS, "Not Me But You", highlighting a sense of social responsibility among the students.  The Government Degree College Nankhari has half unit of NSS including 50 volunteers from BA/ B.Com 1st, 2nd and 3rd year. The unit works under the direction of the State and Centre departments. The NSS volunteers enthusiastically participate in the various activities carried out throughout the year. 


Objectives

  1. To develop a sense of social and civic responsibility among the students.
  2. To develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
  3. To develop students' personality through community service.
  4. To acquire positive social attitudes and values.
  5. To develop leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  6. To understand the community better.
